We hope your family and friends are well as we come to the end of another year, despite Covid still ongoing.
In 2021 the club returned to rowing less fitter but as enthusiastic as ever. We opened our boats to new junior and adult members through our summer taster sessions and rowing sessions which we ran as part of Portaferry Hubs Summer Scheme. Our members have continued their training furthering their coxing skills and experiencing the clubs newly equipped safety boat.
Unfortunately due to weather and Covid we were unable to run our planned Regatta but the club did attend the very enjoyable picnic row organised by Skettrick along with some beautiful sunny days out rowing on the Lough.
Our Juniors have also been no less busy rowing and then moving onto weekly rowing machine sessions in between the bad weather. This down time off the water also allowed them to enter a Christmas Pallet Tree contest and participate in the Light Parade in Portaferry as part of the December celebrations, for which the Skiff won a prize for our festive decorations with presents and busy elfs.
This year has been hard and we don't know for sure what 2022 will herald but Portaferry Coastal Rowing Club would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year when we hope to spend even more time on the water.
