Great News For Coastal Rowing

The Irish Coastal Rowing Federation are pleased to advise that following extensive consultations with SportNI, the Return to Sport Expert Group have given the go ahead for a return to Coastal Rowing in Northern Ireland. All participants must adhere to the following guidelines:


• Clubs Should:

- Before any resumption of Rowing, each club should conduct a comprehensive Risk Assessment.

- Appoint one or more COVID 19 Compliance Officers.

- Maintain up-to-date Records of all Member Interactions both on shore and in boats for the purposes of Contact Tracing.

- These records should be held for at least 21 days after which they can be securely disposed of.

• Club Members Must:

- Where possible, avoid using Public Transport when travelling to/from the club activities.

- Avoid pooling modes of Transport when travelling to/from the club activities.

- Wash/Sanitise hands regularly.

- Follow club guidelines for personal behaviour, cleaning and sanitising equipment.

- Not under any circumstances, knowingly attend club activities if they suspect that they might have COVID 19 (through displaying symptoms of COVID 19 or for any other reason), have been booked for a Test for COVID 19 or have knowingly been in close contact with another person who has COVID 19 or is suspected of having COVID 19.

• At present, the current degree of spacing in the boat is permitted during rowing but may be subject to change in the future depending on circumstances.

• Rowers must:

- Rowers should avoid turning around in the boat to face one another and No Shouting, etc.

- As much as possible, individual rowing crews should be comprised of the same four people.

• Coxes must:

- Only go out with one crew per day.

- Wear appropriate PPE, (Mouth, Nose and Eye protection, etc.).

• When Carrying Boats before and after rowing:

- Maintain social distancing as much as possible.

- Where it is impossible to maintain adequate social distancing:

- Appropriate PPE must be worn,

- Appropriate Sanitary measures carried out before and after as necessary.

• Sanitise Boats and Equipment before and after every use.

- Paying particular attention to areas of boats and equipment which are both often and occasionally handled.
